Annual growth of 3%

According to a new report released by Freedonia, the demand for lighting fixtures in the US market will grow at a rate of more than 3% per year. It is estimated that by 2012, the total sales value of the US lighting market will reach US$21.6 billion.

In 2002-2007, the average annual growth rate of US lighting demand was also 3%, but the growth during this period was mainly due to rising prices. It is expected that the demand for lamps will increase significantly from 2007 to 2012. First, the outlook for the US construction market is promising, especially for housing and transportation infrastructure, which will greatly increase the demand for lamps; the demand for lamps in the US manufacturing market will also increase, because the output of American cars will increase. . From the national market point of view, the demand for new types of luminaires will increase, such as high-intensity discharge lamp (HID) lamps and light-emitting diodes (LEDs), because these products are more energy efficient than traditional incandescent lighting systems.

The growth prospects of the residential market are optimistic. From 2002 to 2007, the increase in demand for lighting fixtures was due to the completion of a large number of homes since 2001. With the saturation of housing demand in 2005 and the credit crisis in the mortgage market, the number of completed homes has plummeted, resulting in residential lighting. The demand for lamps has also shrunk accordingly. It is expected that the real estate market will pick up again between 2007 and 2012, and the demand for lamps will increase greatly.

In the automotive market, the demand for OEM luminaires is expected to be higher than in the past. It is expected that the US auto industry will recover in 2007 and 2012, and auto production will climb to an all-time high; this is also due to the widespread use of advanced lighting equipment in automobiles, including the use of HIDs and
LED Light sources for headlights.

Energy-efficient light sources and luminaires will take the lead. By 2012, the fastest growing lighting products are expected to be advanced, energy efficient products. With rising energy costs and more and more environmental issues, energy efficiency requirements for lighting in businesses and homes will also increase. Therefore, the demand for luminaires using high-efficiency light sources (such as fluorescent lamps, halogen lamps and HID lamps) will show a steady growth trend.
