Harbin's first large-scale hydropower station generating electricity

On November 17th, the first unit of Tibetan Tibet Hydropower Station designed and manufactured by Harbin Electric Group was formally put into commercial operation. The unit operation status was excellent. All parameters and indicators fully met the requirements of the contract and relevant standards; on November 23, the Tibet Hydropower Station was built. The first unit was put into production to hold the power generation ceremony at the power station. The first unit designed and manufactured by Harbin Electric was subject to the leadership of the party committee and government of the Tibet Autonomous Region, as well as the customers and the participants.

This not only marks the total investment of 9.6 billion yuan in the Tibetan-style hydropower station began to play its economic benefits, greatly alleviate the power shortage in central Tibet, and bring real benefits to the local people of all ethnic groups, but also means the history of Tibetan power development, From the 100,000 kilowatts of hydropower stations to the construction of 500,000 kilowatts of hydropower stations, the most powerful project was issued, and China's development and utilization of the Yarlung Tsangpo mainstream water resources has entered a substantial stage.

Zangmu Hydropower Station is the first large-scale hydropower station built on the trunk of Yarlung Tsangpo River in China, and is also a key energy project in the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” and “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” of the Tibet Autonomous Region. The annual output of the project is 2.5 billion kilowatt-hours, which also takes into account the ecological water requirements. The power station will install six Francis turbine generating units with a capacity of 85 megawatts, and the total installed capacity of the power station will be 510,000 kilowatts. Harbin Electric will provide 3 sets of these units. The other two units will plan to start generating electricity in December 2014 and February 2015 respectively.

The Tibetan tree project is known as the “Three Gorges Project” in Tibet. The requirements of the contract are high and strict. In order to build the Tibetan power plant into a national quality project, after the signing of the contract, the power company of the Harbin Electric Group has listed the Zangmu hydropower generating units as a key project. From the beginning of product design, the selection of the unit structure and various materials was made. Fully study and compare, by optimizing the structure, reasonable layout, rigorous calculations, to ensure the safe and stable operation of the unit. All participating personnel are not afraid of hardships and are adhering to the service concept of “sincere, efficient, satisfactory, and high-quality” to advance the manufacturing and installation process of Tibetan-wood units.

After the six units of the Tibetan Power Plant are put into operation in 2015, they will occupy 34.46% of the installed capacity of the power grid in Tibet. The annual average amount of water resources in Tibet is 444.2 billion cubic meters, and the total theoretical reserves of hydropower resources reach 2013 million kilowatts, accounting for 29% of the nation's total, ranking first in the country. However, hydropower development is still less than 0.5% of Tibet's hydropower technology development resources. It is an important strategic resource reserve base in China and an important energy continuation base from West to East.
