The QHF-2 type wind pressure relief valve is designed for use in both ground-based and downhole air compressor systems. It is typically installed in the air outlet direction of the compressor's discharge pipe. For optimal performance, the diameter of the relief valve should match or exceed that of the air outlet pipe, ensuring that the release pressure is set at 1.2 to 1.4 times the maximum operating pressure of the air compressor. This setup serves as a critical safety measure.
Working Principle:
The pressure relief valve is composed of three main components: a cylinder, a piston assembly, and a protective cover. The cylinder features left and right flanges, which are welded together with the cylinder block to form a robust structure. To enhance durability and prevent rust, the interior of the cylinder is treated with hard chrome plating.
The piston assembly includes a clamp plate, an O-ring, a piston, and a rod. This assembly is inserted into the cylinder from the left end and secured using the clamp plate to ensure it remains stationary. The protective cover, made by welding flanges and shielding plates, provides additional security during operation.
In normal conditions, when the air compressor system operates under a pressure of up to 0.785 MPa (8 kg/cm²), the relief valve functions effectively. However, in the event of a gas explosion within the wind pack due to coke or fire, the system pressure can spike instantly. Once the pressure reaches 1.03 ± 0.049 MPa (10.5 ± 0.5 kg/cm²), the pull rod releases, allowing the high-pressure gas to escape rapidly from the surface, thereby reducing the impact of any shockwaves and preventing potential accidents.
Usage and Maintenance:
For routine operations, the air compressor system should maintain pressures below 7.84 × 10ⵠPa (8 kg/cm²). Regular checks are essential to ensure there are no leaks in the cylinder, piston, flange connections, or pipelines, and that all fasteners remain secure. It is recommended to conduct periodic inspections and maintenance to keep the system running smoothly.
When the pressure relief valve is operational, monthly checks should include assessing the tension and corrosion of the rod. Additionally, the O-ring seals' elasticity and sealing capability should be evaluated. Ideally, the lever should be replaced every six months. In cases where severe rusting or delayed response occurs, immediate replacement is advised.
