LG Display, a global leader in OLED display technology, has long been at the forefront of innovation in this field. Its advanced OLED panels are widely used in high-end TVs and smartphones around the world. However, LG Display isn't limiting itself to just electronic devices. Recently, the company once again showcased the potential of OLED technology beyond screens by introducing an OLED-powered desk lamp. This is not a new idea — OLED lighting was first explored as early as 2014.

Thanks to LGD’s ongoing research, this concept has now become a real product. The lamp features a soft plastic cover that highlights the ultra-thin nature of OLED technology. This design echoes LG's previous "Wallpaper TV," which also featured a slim and flexible form factor. The table lamp follows a similar aesthetic, making it both functional and visually appealing.

With recent advancements in OLED technology, the latest version of the desk lamp offers improved performance. It delivers higher brightness compared to earlier prototypes and significantly extends its lifespan. According to LG Display, the rectangular version can last between 30,000 to 40,000 hours — equivalent to over 13 years of regular use.

Like traditional LED lights, LG's OLED lamps allow users to adjust color temperature based on their environment, time of day, or specific needs. This flexibility makes the product highly adaptable for different applications. Beyond home use, LG Display is also exploring partnerships with automotive companies to integrate OLED lighting into car taillights.
Currently, LG Display hasn't launched the OLED lamps for sale yet. However, the fifth-generation model is expected to enter mass production next year, with pricing information to be announced soon.
