Based on key guiding documents such as the National Development and Reform Commission and Civil Aviation Administration’s "Guiding Opinions on the Construction and Development of the Linkong Economic Demonstration Zone" (2015, No. 1473), the "Reply Supporting the Construction of the Chongqing Linkage Economic Demonstration Zone" (2016, No. 2209), and the "Opinions on Accelerating the Development of International Aviation Hubs" (Renfu Office No. [2017] No. 28), the city has developed a comprehensive "Overall Plan for the Construction of the Chongqing Airport Economic Demonstration Zone."

The planning area of the Chongqing Airport Economic Demonstration Zone spans approximately 147.48 square kilometers, covering areas from the east of Qilian Expressway to the Jialing River, and from Longwangdong Mountain to the southern boundary of Yubei District. It includes key zones like the Airport Industrial Park, Innovation Economic Corridor, Airport New City, and the Pandalai Exhibition City, among others.
The main objectives of the plan include building an international aviation hub, developing high-end airport industrial clusters, creating a world-class airport urban area, and establishing an inland open portal. These efforts aim to promote regional economic restructuring, enhance connectivity, and foster sustainable urban development.
