Geotextile effective pore size measuring instrument for the determination of effective pore size of all types of geotextile products - Database & Sql Blog Articles

The geotextile effective aperture measuring instrument is a specialized device designed to determine the effective pore size of various types of geotextile materials. It consists of several key components, including a base plate, a cover, a sample holder, a screening system, and a water spraying mechanism. The base plate has four mounting slots at its corners, allowing it to be securely fastened to a foundation or workbench using bolts for stability. On the upper left corner of the cover, there is a control panel featuring a counter, power switch, and start button for easy operation. The cover is designed to be isolated from the vibrating screen to minimize vibration interference, ensuring accurate test results. A water sprinkling system is mounted on the right side of the base plate, consisting of an inlet, flow switch, metal hose, and a shower head with a splash-proof cover. During use, the shower head is placed inside a transparent cover and secured with a protective cover and clip to prevent water from spilling out. The collecting trough is rigidly connected to the vibrating head, with a collecting tube positioned on the left side and a supporting trough beneath it. To prepare for testing, the sample is laid flat on the grid, held in place by the geotextile holder, and then tightened using a flip bolt and star handle. For easier removal when needed, the outer wall of the holder includes a sealing ring, along with two long-groove opening cap bolts. If the holder becomes difficult to remove, the geotextile cover bolt can be turned counterclockwise, lifting the holder for convenient access. This instrument follows the GB/T 17634-1998 standard, which outlines the wet screening method for determining the effective pore size of geotextiles and related products. It uses a single layer of geotextile without tension as a sieve, combined with graded granular material, and sprays water while applying specified vibration frequency and amplitude to measure how particles pass through the sample. **Operation Steps:** 1. Remove the sample holder and lay the geotextile sample on the support grid without any force, keeping it horizontal. 2. Spread the selected granular material evenly over the sample according to the standard. 3. Turn on the power switch. 4. Set the vibration time on the timer (typically 600 seconds as per GB/T 17634-1998). The timer supports two-speed settings: 0–99.99 seconds or 0–99 minutes and 59 seconds. 5. Connect the water inlet to a regulated water source, place the shower head inside the transparent cover, secure it with the splash-proof cover and clip, and open the flow control valve. 6. Press the start button to begin the test. 7. Particles that pass through the sample will collect in the collecting tank. 8. After the set time has elapsed, stop the vibration. 9. Collect the remaining granular material and the sample. 10. Process the test results according to the GB/T 17634-1998 standard. 11. Turn off the power and clean the instrument after use. **Technical Specifications:** - Sieve diameter: 200 mm - Sieve stack height: 400 mm - Sieve seat amplitude: 8 mm - Sieve shaking frequency: 221 times/min - Shock frequency: 147 times/min - Radius of gyration: 12.5 mm - Power supply: 380V - Power consumption: 0.37 kW - Dimensions: 640 × 430 × 800 mm - Total weight: 50 kg This geotextile effective aperture tester is essential for quality control in the geotextile industry, ensuring that materials meet required standards for filtration and drainage performance. Its reliable design and precise measurements make it a valuable tool for laboratories and manufacturing facilities.
