AVX, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has introduced a new line of ultra-wideband capacitors designed to address the challenge of vertical isolation across a broad frequency range from 16 kHz to 40 GHz. The GX0S capacitor family offers exceptional wideband performance with minimal insertion loss, outstanding return loss, and a compact 0301 package size. These capacitors are ideal for applications such as semiconductor data communications, optical transceivers, transimpedance amplifiers, and test equipment.
Larry Eisenberger, AVX's market applications engineer, stated, "Our new GX0S ultra-wideband capacitor series provides engineers with a reliable and versatile solution for a wide range of high-frequency applications."
The GX0S series features a capacitance value of 0.1 μF with a tolerance of ±20%. It operates at a rated voltage of 6.3 VDC at 85°C or 4.0 VDC at 125°C. The typical insertion loss is around 0.4 dB, although performance above 40 GHz may vary depending on mounting conditions.
Built using AVX’s patented precision film termination technology, the GX0S series is optimized for high-volume soldering processes. It is available with two terminal options—standard nickel-tin or solderable nickel-gold—which provide flexibility in compatible connections, especially for bypass applications. The capacitors are RoHS compliant and come in tape form, available in packages of 500, 1000, or 4000 units. Lead times for the series are up to six weeks after order receipt, ensuring availability for both prototyping and production needs.
