The digital currency trading platform OKEX WeChat public account was suspected to be reported by the user

On the evening of March 2, it was reported that the well-known cryptocurrency trading platform OKEX had its official WeChat account suspended and could no longer be accessed. At the same time, the public account of Firecoin Network also disappeared from WeChat's search function. A reporter contacted OKEX representatives, who confirmed that the account had indeed been blocked. According to the company, the suspension was reportedly due to user complaints during the 3.15 period, though they have not received any formal regulatory notice. It has been observed that searching for "Firecoin Network" or "OKEX" on WeChat's official account page does not return the accounts, only related links appear. When attempting to access the OKEX official account, users are now shown a message stating, “This account has been blocked and content cannot be viewed.” The reason given is that the account is “suspected of violating relevant laws, regulations, and policies due to user complaints and platform review.” While the Firecoin Network’s official account can still push articles and allow reading, it is no longer searchable within the WeChat official account section, nor can it be shared with friends. This has raised concerns among users about the stability of these platforms. According to an insider from Firecoin Network, “The official account of Firecoin is currently experiencing some abnormalities. The WeChat certification just expired, and we are in the process of re-certification.” Meanwhile, the marketing head at OKEX confirmed the blockage of their official account but denied any connection with regulatory actions. They mentioned that no official notice has been received and that the incident may have been triggered by user reports during the 3.15 period. Among China’s top three cryptocurrency exchanges, OKEX, Firecoin, and Bitcoin.com, only OKEX and Firecoin have faced issues on WeChat. The websites of Weico.com and Bitcoin China, as well as their Weibo accounts, remain fully operational. With the recent surge in blockchain interest, some users have started reselling digital currencies, prompting regulatory authorities to issue new guidelines aimed at curbing speculative behavior, especially around ICOs and illegal fundraising activities. This latest development underscores the ongoing challenges faced by crypto platforms in navigating the evolving regulatory landscape.
