Los Angeles walks in the first city of lighting technology before the application of LED street lights

Los Angeles became the first city to install SmartPole street lighting technology developed by Philips and Ericsson.

The new SmartPoles streetlight fully integrates LED street lighting with 4G LTE wireless communication technology developed by Ericsson. The upgrade will enable wireless connectivity to street lighting and increase data broadband coverage in densely populated urban areas.

These smart street lights are only illuminated at night, and with Ericsson's small cellular technology, these street lights can be connected hubs during the day, providing seamless 4G LTE services to Los Angeles residents. These small cells can be used as a small cell phone tower to expand the range and intensity of Internet connectivity throughout the city.
