Just five months after the ZigBee 3.0 certification program was launched, the ZigBee Test Tool (ZTT) has now added 12 new device types to its certification list. This expansion includes lighting components such as dimming ballasts and illuminance sensors, extending the scope of ZigBee into professional construction applications. Existing device types already support alarm and safety systems, as well as HVAC use cases, making ZigBee 3.0 more versatile and complete than ever before. This advancement helps bring innovative IoT products to market faster and with greater confidence.

Expanding Use Cases with 12 New Device Types
- Three additional HVAC devices have been introduced: heating and cooling units, thermostats, and humidity sensors. These help homeowners better manage their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, improving comfort and reducing energy costs.
- Four new IAS (Intrusion Alarm System) device types have been added: IAS control and indication equipment, IAS assist control equipment, IAS area, and IAS warning equipment. These enhance home and building security by enabling sensor-based systems that trigger alarms or warnings when intruders are detected or during emergencies like fires.
- Two new home safety devices have been included: door locks and door lock controls. These allow smart locks to integrate with other home systems, such as turning on lights or heaters when you unlock the door. They also support remote locking and unlocking and can send notifications when someone enters your home.
The continuous expansion of ZigBee 3.0 device types and supported applications provides the most comprehensive application layer available for today’s IoT product development and deployment. It's a major contribution from the ZigBee Alliance to the evolving IoT ecosystem.
