These instruments and equipment will become the “Sweet Mushrooms” that attack the pollution of water.

China's water quality monitoring industry started relatively late. Before the 21st century, most of the equipment used for water quality analysis and monitoring was imported from abroad. However, as the industry developed, China gradually introduced and absorbed advanced technologies, leading to a rise in domestic manufacturing capabilities. Today, with the implementation of various national policies and regulations aimed at controlling water pollution, water quality monitoring equipment has become an essential tool in the fight against environmental degradation. The current state of water pollution remains serious, and urgent action is needed. With rapid industrial and agricultural growth, along with rising living standards, public demand for clean and safe water has never been higher. Unfortunately, water pollution, eutrophication, and algal blooms have caused significant harm to drinking water supplies and pose serious threats to public health. According to reports from the Ministry of Water Resources, a nationwide assessment of over 700 rivers—spanning about 100,000 kilometers—revealed that 46.5% of the rivers were polluted, with water quality classified as fourth or fifth grade. Additionally, 10.6% of river length suffered from severe pollution, where water quality exceeded the fifth grade, making it unsuitable for any use. Over 90% of urban water sources are also affected by pollution. These figures clearly indicate that water pollution in China is becoming increasingly severe, and immediate measures are necessary to address this growing crisis. In response to the severity of the issue, the government has intensified its efforts to combat water pollution. Since the introduction of the "Water Ten Articles," numerous action plans have been launched to improve water quality. Provinces across the country have actively responded by developing their own local strategies, while companies in the environmental monitoring sector have played a crucial role by providing advanced testing equipment. The government has issued several key policies, including the "Water Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan," the "Key River Basin Water Pollution Prevention and Control Plan (2016–2020)," and the updated "Water Pollution Control Law." These initiatives have laid a solid foundation for improving water management. In line with these national directives, provinces such as Anhui, Gansu, Jiangsu, Hebei, Hunan, Guangdong, Hangzhou, Yunnan, Henan, and Qingdao have all developed their own water pollution prevention strategies to enhance local water environments. Leading manufacturers like Hach, Shimadzu, and others have contributed significantly by supplying advanced water quality testing instruments, supporting China’s ongoing efforts to monitor and control water pollution effectively. Looking ahead, the water quality monitoring market shows great potential. According to a report by the Prospect Industry Research Institute, the Chinese water quality monitoring market reached 3.187 billion yuan in 2014, with surface water monitoring accounting for 2.457 billion yuan and pollution source monitoring reaching 730 million yuan. The market is expected to grow at a rate of over 20% annually, surpassing 9.5 billion yuan by 2020. With the continuous development of China's water quality monitoring equipment industry, the number of manufacturers has increased rapidly. Companies with strong R&D capabilities have emerged, competing with well-known international brands. The market size for water quality monitoring equipment has grown by more than 20% in the past two years. As a result, a wide range of monitoring devices—such as water samplers, toxicology analyzers, halogen analyzers, VOC monitors, heavy metal detectors, ion detectors, ammonia nitrogen analyzers, total nitrogen analyzers, and five-parameter water quality monitors—are becoming increasingly popular. These tools are being widely applied in various fields to help detect and manage water pollution, ultimately safeguarding people's daily lives and production activities.
