These instruments and equipment will become the “Sweet Mushrooms” that attack the pollution of water.

China's water quality monitoring industry started relatively late. Before the 21st century, most of the equipment used for water quality analysis and monitoring was imported from abroad. However, as the industry developed, China gradually introduced and absorbed advanced technologies, leading to a growing presence of domestic-made equipment. Today, with the implementation of various national policies and new regulations aimed at controlling water pollution, water quality monitoring equipment has become an essential tool in the fight against environmental degradation. The current situation of water pollution remains severe, and urgent improvements are needed. With rapid industrial and agricultural development and rising living standards, the demand for clean and safe water has never been higher. Unfortunately, issues such as water pollution, eutrophication, and excessive algae growth have caused significant harm to daily drinking water and negatively impacted public health. According to reports from the Ministry of Water Resources, an assessment of over 700 rivers across the country—covering approximately 100,000 kilometers—revealed that 46.5% of these rivers were polluted, with water quality only reaching the fourth or fifth levels. About 10.6% of river length suffered from serious pollution, where the water was no longer suitable for use. Moreover, more than 90% of urban water sources were contaminated. These figures clearly show that water pollution in China is becoming increasingly severe, and immediate action is necessary to address the problem. In response to this challenge, the government has taken strong measures to tackle water pollution. Recognizing the urgency of the issue, the state has launched multiple initiatives, including the "Water Ten Articles," followed by various water pollution control action plans. Provinces across the country have also actively responded by developing their own local strategies. Meanwhile, companies specializing in environmental monitoring equipment have played a vital role by supplying advanced instruments to support water quality testing. Currently, several key policies have been implemented, such as the "Water Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan," the "Key River Basin Water Pollution Prevention and Control Plan (2016–2020)," and the newly revised "Water Pollution Control Law." These measures provide a solid foundation for improving the water environment. In line with national efforts, provinces like Anhui, Gansu, Jiangsu, Hebei, Hunan, Guangdong, Hangzhou, Yunnan, Henan, and Qingdao have all developed their own water pollution prevention and control action plans, aiming to enhance the quality of local water resources. Additionally, global manufacturers such as Hach, Shimadzu, and others have contributed significantly by providing high-quality water quality testing equipment, supporting China’s ongoing efforts to combat pollution. Looking ahead, the water quality monitoring market shows great potential. According to a report by the Prospect Industry Research Institute, China's water quality monitoring market reached 3.187 billion yuan in 2014. The surface water monitoring segment accounted for 2.457 billion yuan, while the pollution source monitoring market stood at 730 million yuan. It is expected that the market will continue to grow at a rate above 20%, surpassing 9.5 billion yuan by 2020. In recent years, the number of water quality monitoring equipment manufacturers has grown rapidly, with many companies developing their own R&D capabilities and competing with well-known international brands. Over the past two years, the market size has expanded by more than 20%. As a result, various types of monitoring equipment—such as water samplers, toxicology analyzers, halogen analyzers, VOC monitors, heavy metal detectors, ion detectors, ammonia nitrogen analyzers, total nitrogen analyzers, and five-parameter water quality monitors—are becoming increasingly popular. These tools are set to play a crucial role in detecting and managing water pollution across different sectors, ultimately safeguarding people's health and quality of life.
