Fault Analysis of Pressure Transmitter of Ruize Instrument

In industrial applications, pressure transmitters are essential for accurate measurement of pressure levels. However, they can encounter various faults during operation. Timely identification and resolution of these issues are crucial to maintaining smooth production processes. Based on practical experience in daily instrument maintenance, we have compiled some effective troubleshooting techniques.

1. Visual Inspection Method: Start by examining the physical condition of the transmitter. Look for signs of external damage, loose wiring, leaks in the pressure guide tubes, overheating components, or any irregularities in the power supply switch. This initial step often reveals simple yet critical issues.

2. Diagnostic Testing Methods:

(1) Open Circuit Test: Isolate the suspected faulty section from the rest of the system to determine if the fault persists. If the issue disappears, it confirms the problem is within that area. For example, with an intelligent differential pressure transmitter, if HART communication is not working properly, you can disconnect the power from the transmitter body and use a local power source to test whether electromagnetic interference is causing signal disruption through the cable.

(2) Short Circuit Test: Under safe conditions, short-circuit the relevant part of the circuit. For instance, if a differential pressure transmitter shows a low output, you can disconnect the pressure guide tube and directly apply the pressure signal from the first pressure regulator to both sides of the transmitter. This helps identify blockages or leaks in the piping.

(3) Component Replacement Test: Replace the suspected faulty component with a known good one to isolate the issue. For example, if there's a concern about a faulty circuit board, temporarily swapping it out can help determine the root cause.

(4) Segment-by-Segment Diagnosis: Divide the entire measurement loop into smaller sections such as power supply, signal output, signal transmission, and signal detection. Check each segment systematically, starting from the simplest to the more complex parts, and work your way from the outside in to narrow down the fault location.
