Data map

After the US semiconductor technology company Tessera accused Samsung of violating its chip patents, the US International Trade Commission conducted an investigation on Samsung on October 31st. Tessera asked the US International Trade Commission to prohibit Samsung from selling chips and all products that use chips, such as smart phones, tablets, and laptops. The company said that the power management ICs used by Samsung's Galaxy S8 and Note 8 are typical examples of patent infringement.

Tessera sued the US International Trade Commission, three federal state courts, and some international courts on September 28 for as many as 24 patent infringements of Samsung and Samsung subsidiaries, involving welding, packaging, and imaging technologies. The US International Trade Commission is investigating two of the 24 suspected patent infringement technologies. According to U.S. Customs Law, if the U.S. International Trade Commission discovers that it involves US patent infringement, it may order the ban on the import of goods. In 2013, Samsung’s Galaxy S2, Nexus smartphone and Galaxy Tab were prohibited from entering the US market because they were found to have infringed Apple’s patents. Samsung does not comment on this matter. (Internship Compilation: Dong Xiaojing Reviewer: Li Zongze)
