Beijing Formulates Autonomous Vehicle Regulations

On Friday (February 2nd), the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission specifically developed the on-the-spot evaluation criteria and detailed test requirements for automated driving. Although autopilot is still somewhat different from unmanned driving, the emergence of new rules and regulations also makes autopilot, a cutting-edge technology, even more reasonable and legitimate.

According to the guidance document issued by the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission, testing a self-driving car on a public road requires a series of tests, with a score of 100 points, and a test score of at least 80 minutes before it can be used.

From the test items, this test basically contains all the contents of the driving test from subject one to subject three and the theory test.

I. Cognition and compliance test

According to the current road traffic safety law, traffic signs/marks, traffic lights, and traffic police command gestures are all traffic signals. Self-driving cars, like human drivers, should abide by the meaning and regulations contained in the signals. This part of the test focuses on the recognition and understanding capabilities of the onboard autopilot system.

Self-driving vehicles should ensure that all traffic signals in the picture can be identified in real time. In addition to understanding the meaning of signals, they must also be able to correctly handle the priorities between different signals. At the junction with the traffic police, traffic should be given in accordance with the command of the traffic police.

Second, vehicle operation and comprehensive driving ability test

About the operation of the vehicle and integrated driving, the simplest such as the vehicle starting, parking, follow-up, changing lanes, a little more complicated, such as right-angled turning, curve driving, ramp start and stop, reverse storage and other items.

This is still the same as ordinary driving vehicles. This time, the rules are used to examine the driving level of autonomous vehicles. The regulatory documents on this occasion also put forward different difficulty requirements for different projects on the evaluation criteria.

1. The time for a complete reversal of storage shall not exceed 3.5 minutes, while the side parking shall not exceed 1.5 minutes, and the ramp start and stop shall be completed within 30 seconds.

2. In rainy or wet roads, the automatic driving vehicle should also maintain or reduce the speed and turn on the corresponding flash. In the school section, the speed should be reduced to less than 30 kilometers.

3. In the event that an emergency stop is required, the system of the autopilot vehicle also needs to park within 2 seconds and hand the vehicle control to the driver.

4. If the horn is used incorrectly and the rear vehicle does not pass the signal of overtaking, the automatic driving vehicle that does not allow the line to be braked and is not smooth will be deducted by 10 points.

5. In addition, there are 27 cases that will be directly judged as unqualified. If the vehicle slips more than 30 centimeters at the start, it does not follow the traffic signs, markings and signals.

This time, the rules for autopilot implementation, because of the use of a score system, the corresponding difficulty level (T1-T5) of each test item must reach 80 points or more to be qualified.

Therefore, it is said that it is more difficult and more rigorous than our daily driver's license examination.
