LG LCD TV is accused of 4K only 2.8K quality difference

PCWorld recently reported that even in 2017, some LG 4K TVs, including the UJ6300, UJ6500, UJ7700, and UJ8000 models, actually have a real resolution of only 2.8K. This issue was first brought to light a year earlier, but when editors tested a new LG TV alongside non-LG 4K models, they found that when playing 2160p content, the picture quality from LG was significantly lower.

In RGBW displays, the white pixel doesn't contribute to color accuracy, effectively reducing the number of colored pixels by 25%. PCWorld advises that if you don’t frequently consume true 4K media, then LG’s so-called “pseudo-4K” LCD TVs might still be a decent option. However, if you're serious about 4K performance, it's worth considering other brands that offer genuine 4K resolution and better pixel utilization. Always do your research before making a purchase, especially when it comes to display technology that claims to deliver high-definition visuals.
